Turcology.com is a digital publishing project developed by TÜRKTAV, which was established to develop various projects in the field of Turkish history and culture, and jointly by INFORMASCOPE, which is specialized in the field of digital publishing by carrying out many different digital publishing projects.
Turcology.com’s content is compiled by collecting the digital formats of the works in the Turkish World Digital Library database; Otrar, which is one of the main projects of TURKTAV. Otrar Turkish World Digital Library has been organized by the foundation in order to hand down the works such as manuscripts, documents, maps, which are an important part of our cultural heritage and have historical value the to the next generations. Otrar, the birthplace of the philosopher and mathematician Al-Farabi, is not only the most famous cities on the Silk Road, but also has one of the largest libraries of the period. For this reason, Otrar has been determined as the name of the digital library. Otrar Turkish World Digital Library; is constantly enriches its content in order to provide resources for researchers, scientists and the whole world about Turkish history, culture, traditions and customs, literature and language.
In content of Turcology.com, there are nearly 110,000 materials in various languages, most of them are rare or out of copyright, from various publishing houses, private archives, universities and public institutions which are obtained by auctions in more than 30 countries including Turkey, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, China, Mongolia, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Saha Yakut, Iran, Afghanistan, India, Russia, Hungary, England, France, Italy. Most of those materials are composed with books, magazines, newspapers, reports, maps, albums, gravures and files.
